A Luxe motor was the first inland shipping cargo vessel that was driven by a diesel engine instead of sails. The first Luxe Motors ware build in 1908.

De IJSSELSTROOM was sailing as the IJsselstroom 1 over the Hollandsche IJssel from 1912 til 1941 between Gouda , Utrecht, Woerden. The resident harbour was Montfoort, Onder de Boompjes 8. The ship is 23,40 m long and 4.40 m wide.

Between 1941 and half 70's the ship was used by different shipping compagnies such as expediteur van Dijk. The ship was named then from 1941 til 48: Onderneming X. In the last years as cargoship til the mid 70's it was named Leendert

De present engine of the  IJSSELSTROOM is the famous Gardner 5LW

The electrical system of the IJSSELSTROOM is solar powered with twealf solar panels of 650 watt piek (24V) and also a 3,5 KW diesel generator (230V) and a 2KW petrol generator. If we are sailing with our "house" we have no troubles with empty batteries or a noisy generator.

Our generator is a Samofa E108 W, a 1 cylinder watercooled diesel.
